The Public Offering of Sale (POS) of 34% of the capital of Standard Bank of Angola (SBA) was approved by the Capital Market Commission (CMC), marking one of the largest movements in the Angolan capital market. The operation opens the way for the bank's shares to debut on the stock exchange, allowing investors to acquire stakes in one of the country's leading financial institutions.
The operation involves the sale of a significant stake in the bank, which could generate over 205 billion kwanzas for the Angolan state, according to the released estimates. This value represents a substantial capital inflow for public finances at a time when there is a need to diversify the Angolan economy.
Standard Bank of Angola is one of the country's largest banking institutions, with an extensive branch network and a consolidated position in the Angolan financial market. Its entry onto the stock exchange represents a vote of confidence in the local capital market and may attract new investors to the Angolan stock ecosystem.
The approval by the CMC constitutes the final regulatory step for the completion of the offering, which is expected to be launched shortly for the investing public. This operation is part of a broader strategy of privatization and opening of capital in state-owned enterprises and financial institutions in Angola.
