The Territorial Command of Castelo Branco carried out, between August 26 and 30, 2026, a series of random road traffic enforcement actions and criminal prevention patrols. The operations resulted in the arrest of sixteen citizens for crimes of drug trafficking, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a legal license, and possession of prohibited weapons.
Of the sixteen arrests made, twelve were for drug trafficking, two for driving under the influence of alcohol, one for driving without a legal license, and one for possession of a prohibited weapon. Additionally, seven fines were issued for violations of the Road Traffic Code and two fines for drug consumption.
As part of the investigation efforts related to drug trafficking, security searches and vehicle searches were conducted, resulting in the seizure of various substances, including 736 grams of ketamine, 410 grams of MDMA tablets corresponding to 1,010 units, 108 grams of cannabis, 84 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms, 72 grams of hashish, as well as crystal MDMA, DMT, powdered and liquid LSD, and mescaline. Approximately 660 euros in cash, two precision scales, a bladed weapon, and an expandable baton were also seized.
The sixteen arrested individuals were formally charged and the cases were sent to the Judicial Court of Fundão. One of the arrested individuals was subject to the preventive detention measure.
