Banking activity will continue to be at the core of the Portuguese financial system

In an interview with Advocatus, Francisco Soares Machado, partner at Sérvulo & Associados, analyses the current moment in the Portuguese financial sector, considering it very positive, with high levels of capital, liquidity, record profits and low impairment. The former European Investment Bank advisor and Ministry of Finance staffer argues that bank performance results from both favorable cyclical factors and the merit of their management teams. He identifies challenges such as digital transformation, payment fraud and European regulation, but believes banking will continue to be at the core of the system. He points to opportunities for investors in closing banking positions and in debt funds, alternative asset management and financing of energy transition projects, highlighting that Portugal has competitive conditions in these segments, although the fund market is still small compared to other European countries.

Spotify co-founder says he would leave Sweden if wealth tax were adopted in the country

Martin Lorentzon, Spotify's cofounder, said he would leave Sweden immediately if the country adopts new taxes on large fortunes, raising fears that proposals debated before elections could drive entrepreneurs and capital abroad. When asked if he would consider changing countries, Lorentzon responded affirmatively by email to Bloomberg, saying he would prefer to stay, but a tax of this type would force him to leave. The alert comes as the Left Party campaigns for a billionaire tax and the Green Party proposes separate taxation on the wealthiest, both in the center-left opposition led by the Social Democrats.

Laundry recommends: towels should be washed with this frequency

A Welsh laundry service recommends that bath towels be washed after three to four uses, while hand towels should be changed every two to three days, and face towels preferably after each use. The frequency may vary depending on bathroom ventilation, ambient humidity, and drying time. The company advises against using fabric softener, which can reduce absorbency, and recommends fully drying towels before storing to prevent mould and unpleasant odours.
