Even with the application of discounts on fuels, diesel and gasoline prices in Portugal are expected to reach the highest values recorded this year. The upward trend is observed both in the domestic market and throughout the rest of Europe.
This situation is mainly due to the war of the United States against Iran, which has been affecting international energy markets. Russian attacks on energy infrastructure in Ukraine also contribute to the instability in fuel prices.
The impact of these international conflicts continues to be felt significantly at the petrol pump, partially nullifying the tax reduction efforts implemented by governments to mitigate the cost for consumers.
