The parish of Malhada Sorda, located in the municipality of Almeida, is preparing to hold another edition of the annual feast in honor of Our Lady of Help. This event is considered by many the largest Marian pilgrimage in the entire diocese of Guarda, attracting hundreds of faithful to the local sanctuary annually.
The celebration bears the name "Caminhos da Senhora d'Ajuda" (Paths of Our Lady of Help), evoking the various pilgrimage routes that lead devotees to the sacred site. Many pilgrims choose to make the journey on foot, departing from the most diverse regions to fulfill their vow or demonstrate their faith. This religious tradition remains alive over the years, solidifying Malhada Sorda as an important center of Marian pilgrimage in the border zone of Portugal.
