The cultural association enRaiz'arte, based in Gandra, in the municipality of Paredes, will participate between September 10 and 14 in a new stage of the European project Flags of Unity, this time in Orte, Italy. This trip follows the association's participation in Malta in May and continues the cultural exchange that brings together participants from Portugal, Italy and Malta, seeking to connect different generations through art and heritage.
The female group Raízes Medievais will be the Portuguese face on this trip, bringing to Italy the work developed around Portuguese medieval traditions and heritage. Dance plays a central role in this international participation, allowing the association to showcase its work of preservation and recreation of Portuguese ethnographic and historical traditions.
For Cátia Soares, artistic director of enRaiz'arte, this participation represents the consolidation of an international journey that has allowed the work developed in Paredes to be shared with other countries. She expressed pride for Gandra, the county of Paredes and the country, also highlighting the dedication of the dance group Raízes Medievais.
Flags of Unity is based on cultural sharing among participants from the three countries, creating moments of exchange through culture, history and different forms of artistic expression. The previous experience in Malta left good impressions, and the association now leaves with the goal of continuing to promote Portuguese culture and learn about other traditions.
