The PS Funchal defends the creation of an accessible GPS and urban mapping system for blind and visually impaired people in the city. The proposal also includes strengthening audio information on public transport and traffic lights in Funchal.
The measures were presented after a meeting between the socialist Municipal Group and the Regional Nucleus of Madeira of ACAPO – Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted of Portugal. In this meeting, some of the difficulties faced daily by people with visual impairments in the region were addressed.
The PS Funchal thus aims to improve the mobility and autonomy of blind and visually impaired people in the municipality, making public spaces more accessible and safe through location technology and audio alerts.
