In June 2026, the unemployment rate in Brazil reached 5.7%, representing a slight increase of 0.1 percentage points compared to May, but still a reduction of 0.2 p.p. compared to March 2026 and of 0.3 p.p. compared to June 2025. This scenario suggests a stabilization in the labor market, even in the face of existing economic challenges.
The labor underutilization rate during the same period stood at 9.3%, registering decreases of 0.1 p.p. compared to May and of 0.5 p.p. compared to three months earlier. This value represents the lowest index since the beginning of the historical series of the indicator in 2011, indicating an improvement in employment conditions and greater utilization of the labor force.
The provisional estimates for July 2026 show that the unemployment rate remained stable at 5.7%, matching the figures from April and June, but with a slight decline of 0.1 p.p. compared to July 2025. The underutilization rate, on the other hand, rose to 9.5%, an increase of 0.2 p.p. compared to June, although it remains below the levels of three months and one year ago, with declines of 0.2 p.p. and 0.6 p.p. respectively.
Among the highlights, the unemployment rate among men reached 4.9%, the lowest level since February 1998, showing significant advances in the male labor market. The data was released by the National Institute of Statistics.
