Comedian Deniz Goktas, 32 years old, faces a possible sentence of up to 10 years in prison for insulting Turkey's President. The case has generated controversy about freedom of expression in the country.
Goktas was released by a court on August 28. However, on the same day he was supposed to leave prison, he was detained again without being allowed to leave his cell.
The release and rearrest on the same day raised questions about the functioning of the judicial system. The comedian remains detained while awaiting the outcome of the case.
