September 7th is Brazil's Independence Day, a national holiday that impacts services across the country. To help residents of the State of Rio de Janeiro organize themselves, EXTRA published a guide with the operating hours of banks, supermarkets, shopping malls, and other establishments during the date.
Bank branches will not be open for in-person customer service and bank compensations will not be processed on this date, including TED. Payment slips and utility bills such as water, electricity, and phone, with due dates on the holiday, may be paid without additional charges on the next business day.
However, for taxes and fees with due dates on days without bank compensation, it is necessary to pay in advance to avoid interest and fines. The article notes that Saturday is not considered a business day, so there is no financial settlement on that day.
PIX, on the other hand, operates 24 hours every day, allowing transfers even during the holiday.
