A group of 40 pilgrims began this morning the traditional walk between Curral das Freiras and Ponta Delgada, crossing the central mountain range of Madeira Island along a mountainous, winding and demanding route. The participants faced the difficulties of the crossing over several hours until reaching Bom Jesus, in the local parish. Among the pilgrims were the mayor of Câmara de Lobos, Celso Bettencourt, and councilor Manuel Salustino, who accompanied the group on this religious walk.
