The Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth (CPCJ) of Portimão is promoting on September 18, between 09:30 and 13:00, at the Auditório do Portimão Arena, the seminar "Between Caring and Failing: Challenges of Parenting and the Digital World". The event aims to debate the challenges of contemporary parenting and the growing impact of digital technologies on family life, targeting parents, caregivers, and professionals interested in these issues.

The opening session will feature the presence of Álvaro Bila, president of the Portimão Municipal Council, Ana Valente, president of the National Commission for the Promotion of Rights and Protection of Children and Youth, and Carla Barão, president of the CPCJ of Portimão. The program is divided into two panels: "Challenging Parenting VS Parenting that challenges us" and "Digital World: advantages and disadvantages for positive parenting".

The first panel will be led by Fátima Nunes, clinical and health psychologist and director-general of the Instituto do Desenvolvimento, while the second panel will be conducted by Magda Lopes, Justice psychologist at the same institute. The moderation will be handled by Maria João Freitas, coordinator of the Regional Technical Team of the CNPDPCJ, and Nuno Encarnação, representative of residential institutions at the CPCJ of Portimão.

Participation in the seminar is free, but subject to prior registration limited to the capacity of the Auditório do Portimão Arena. This initiative is part of the work of the CPCJ of Portimão in promoting the rights and protection of children and youth, seeking to provide a space for reflection and debate on the challenges faced by families in an increasingly digital society.

Image of the day | The Mafra Station

The Mafra Station, located on the Oeste Line between Lisbon and Figueira da Foz, is about eight kilometres from the town of Mafra and preserves the nineteenth-century architecture typical of this centenary railway line. The most distinctive element of the station is its tile panels, created in 1934 by António de Castro Mourinho, Álvaro Pedro Gomes and Mário Salvador, depicting scenes from the region such as the Mafra Convent and the Tapada de Mafra. Forming part of a particular tradition of the Oeste Line, where several stations were decorated with tile panels, the Mafra Station represents an example of how this deeply Portuguese material was used to transform railway transit spaces into small galleries of folk art, constituting a living testament to an artistic and railway tradition that deserves to be preserved.
