Vale de Cambra supports growing number of autistic students with monitoring via USA

CNN Portugal5 September 2026 at 09:18

The Câmara de Vale de Cambra will invest a total of 42,000 euros in hiring a therapist dedicated to supporting students with special needs. This investment comes as a response to the growing number of students identified in the municipality.

Among the universe of 2,597 students from preschool to 12th grade, 42 students have a confirmed autism diagnosis or early suspicion of the condition. This number has been increasing, which motivated the council to reinforce the available support.

The contracted therapist will undergo some form of monitoring through the USA (although the article mentions the USA, the specific details appear to be truncated). This investment aims to provide these students with more professional support and intervention.
