A 22-year-old woman held in a situation of private imprisonment by her husband in Gongogi, in southern Bahia, found in the notes written in her 7-year-old son's notebook a way to ask for help. She asked the child to deliver the messages to the school teacher, reporting death threats and saying she couldn't take the situation anymore.
The content of the notes reached the police, who rescued the victim and arrested the suspect, 27 years old, last Wednesday. In one of the messages, the young woman wrote: "I am writing to ask for help once more, because I can't take it anymore. Almost every day is a death threat. You asked me to wait for help, but that help never arrived."
According to the Civil Police, the victim reported that she had been in a relationship with the suspect since the age of 13. The couple has two children, one aged 7 and another aged 1 year and 2 months. Over approximately eight years, according to the woman's testimony, she would have been a victim of physical aggression and constant threats by her partner.
The situation would have worsened in recent times, leading the young woman to seek a desperate way of communicating with the outside world, using her son as an intermediary to make the request for help reach the authorities.
