The internet was buzzing this week over a dispute between Luana Piovani and Pedro Scooby involving lice. The two are parents of three children: Dom, Bem, and Liz. The controversy began when their 10-year-old daughter returned from vacation in Brazil, where she spent two months with her father, and arrived in Portugal with a lice infestation. Upon receiving her, Luana Piovani publicly shared the situation.
Lice are small parasitic insects without wings that live on the skin and hair of animals and humans, feeding on blood. They prefer warm, dark, and humid environments, which is why they mainly settle in hair and body hair, where they lay their eggs, called nits.
Only two main species frequently attack humans: the head louse and the pubic louse, known as crab louse. The body louse also exists. Although visible to the naked eye, lice are quite small, reaching only 0.5 millimeters in size, and their color ranges from beige to brown.
