The Imserso subsidized travel program for seniors once again has a very limited impact in the province of Castellón as a tourist destination. Only about ten hotels agreed to participate in the program for the upcoming season.
This low participation contrasts with the expectations of the local tourism sector, which expected greater economic revitalization through this type of government program aimed at the senior public.
The hotels that decided to participate did so after an ultimatum issued by the sector, which warned about the zero profitability that the program has provided in recent years. This complaint has been a recurring one from tourism professionals in the region.
Castellón thus returns to registering very modest participation numbers in the Imserso, which reinforces concerns about the program's capacity to attract significant tourist flows to the province during the upcoming season.
