Banks will not work on September 7th holiday; see how Pix, bills and payments will be affected

oglobo5 September 2026 at 04:00

Bank branches across the country will be closed next Monday (7th), the date when Brazil's Independence Day is celebrated. There will be no in-person service or bank settlements during the holiday, including transfers via TED. According to the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban), in-person service will resume on Tuesday (8th), in cities where there is no state or municipal holiday or optional day off.

Pix, however, will continue to work normally 24 hours throughout the entire period. During the holiday, clients will also be able to use banks' digital channels to carry out most financial operations. Telephone customer service and banking correspondents will also be equally available.

Self-service areas may operate in some locations, but opening will be at the discretion of each financial institution. The article indicates that bills with due dates on the holiday will have their deadlines renegotiated, although the information is incomplete in the available text.
