The financial rating agency Fitch elevated Portugal's rating from 'A' to 'A+', with stable outlook. This improvement places Portugal on par with France and Belgium, demonstrating, according to the Ministry of Finance, the "confidence of international investors" in the country.
The Ministry of Finance reacted to the decision, stating that "this review, which is the second rating upgrade of the Republic promoted by Fitch", represents a recognition of the Portuguese economic trajectory.
Fitch announced the upgrade through a note published on its website, in which it justified the decision based on the economic recovery and the improvement of Portugal's financial indicators.
