The Attorney General of Brazil, Paulo Gonet, opened an investigation to look into possible interference in the Federal Police in the preparation of a report that detailed messages from banker Daniel Vorcaro to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Court. Gonet asked the president of the Court, Edson Fachin, to investigate the possible participation of Minister André Mendonça in the case.

In the dispatch that opens the investigation, Gonet determined that the police authority clarify the circumstances of the preparation of the report, notably regarding the possible occurrence of order or external interference in its preparation that may have tarnished its content.

The cited report was ordered by Mendonça and presented messages exchanged between Vorcaro and Moraes, which triggered an institutional crisis. The crisis escalated on Thursday, when Moraes asked that Mendonça be investigated for what he classified as "unjustified."
