The Attorney General of Brazil, Paulo Gonet, opened an investigation to determine whether there was interference in the Federal Police in the preparation of a report that detailed messages exchanged between banker Daniel Vorcaro and Justice Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Federal Court. Gonet asked the president of the STF, Edson Fachin, to investigate the possible participation of Justice André Mendonça in the case.

The report under investigation was requested by Mendonça to clarify who would be Vorcaro's interlocutors in the messages. In response, the Federal Police presented a 218-page document that contains a series of messages from the banker to Moraes, in addition to conversations that mention other officials, such as Gonet himself and the director-general of the Federal Police.

In the dispatch that opens the investigation, Gonet determined that the police authority clarify the circumstances of the preparation of the report, notably regarding the possible occurrence of external orders or interference that may have tainted its content. The case involves questions about the independence of the Federal Police in the preparation of official documents.
