The Socialist Party (PS) proposed a reduction in IVA on fuels while accusing the Government of profiting from the increase in fuel prices. This position comes in response to the upward trend in prices at filling stations.
According to the Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP) estimate, the price per litre of diesel should increase by 15 cents next week, if the current trend continues. Regarding petrol, an increase of 12 cents per litre is expected.
PS argues that the increase in fuel prices benefits State revenue through taxes, while weighing increasingly heavily on consumers' pockets. The proposal to reduce IVA aims to mitigate the impact of these increases on household budgets.
