The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) issued a yellow alert for the Corvo and Flores islands, both located in the western group of the Azores, due to the forecast of rain.
The yellow warning is the lowest alert level on the scale used by IPMA and is issued when there is a risk situation for certain activities that depend on meteorological conditions.
This type of alert aims to alert authorities and the population about weather conditions that may affect operations such as transportation, agriculture or other activities sensitive to atmospheric conditions.
Local authorities are recommended to follow the evolution of weather forecasts and take the necessary precautions given the possibility of heavy rain on the affected islands.
