The Municipal Council of Albergaria-a-Velha approved, in a Public Ordinary Meeting, the exemption of fees for the use of the Albus public transport service during European Mobility Week, which runs from September 16 to 22. During this period, residents will be able to travel for free on this service, which aims to contribute to local mobility and support the most vulnerable population in their travels across the various parishes of the Municipality.
Also within the scope of this week, the Municipal Council granted financial support to the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Albergaria-a-Velha for the Solidarity Bike Ride. Between September 16 and 22, the community will be able to pedal on stationary bicycles available at the Municipal Market – A Praça, with the Municipality donating 2 euros for each kilometre cycled to the Firefighters, up to a maximum of 1000 euros corresponding to 500 kilometres.
European Mobility Week is run in Portugal by the Portuguese Environment Agency and this year has the theme "Mobility for All – Justice between Generations". The Municipality is preparing a set of activities that promote and stimulate, in different contexts and audiences, concepts and behaviours for a more active, sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility, with the complete program to be announced shortly.
