O Globo presents this week the proposals of the main candidates for the two Senate seats for Rio de Janeiro. Among them is Monica Benício, PSOL councilwoman and widow of Marielle Franco, who claims the second vote of the left and is running for Senate outside the official coalition of President Lula.
The candidate explains that PSOL supports Lula's re-election to the Presidency, but that the party failed to join the majoritarian coalition. She states that politics has its agreements and alliances, which does not prevent her from defending the president. PSOL indicates Benedita da Silva as the second Senate vote, although it is not conducting a joint campaign with Monica Benício.
Regarding the alliance between PT and Eduardo Paes's PSD, Monica Benício says she understands the strategy, although her candidacy was not included in it. She acknowledges that there are personal issues involved and that she seeks therapeutic support to deal with them.
The interview also mentions other Senate candidates, such as Carlos Portinho, from PL, who states he has prepared himself to be a senator, and Carlos Jordy, also from PL, who denies being a radical person.
