The Palace of the Presidency instructed the civil servants who will work at the September 7th civic parade on the Esplanade of Ministries to wear clothing in the colors of the Brazilian flag or the Brazilian National Team shirt. The measure aims to prevent the interpretation that the event could be used as a political-electoral platform by President Lula.
The federal government's concern is that adversaries would view the occasion as a scenario for electoral promotion and take action before the Electoral Court against the PT and the Lula-Alckmin ticket. For this reason, stickers, flags, shirts and posters of a political-electoral nature are prohibited, including in the stands designated for civil servants. Any mention of candidate numbers is also banned.
The General Secretariat of the Presidency, led by Minister Guilherme Boulos, was tasked with liaising with the relevant bodies and coordinating the organization of the event. CBN found that the guidelines were sent to the workers scheduled for the date earlier this week, seeking to ensure that the celebration maintains its civic and patriotic character.
