More than a thousand properties remain without internet six days after a series of sabotage attacks in the Oceanic Region of Niterói. Leste Telecom had reported that approximately 1,500 customers were initially affected, but the number has not been significantly reduced, even after days since the incident.
The network damage was recorded in the early morning between Friday (28) and Saturday (29). According to the company, certain sections of the damaged infrastructure still cannot be repaired because there are no safe conditions for technical teams to work.
In previous maintenance attempts, Leste Telecom employees were threatened and filmed by individuals on motorcycles. The situation has made it impossible for teams to access all areas affected by the sabotage.
Given this scenario, the company stated that it will not carry out repairs in certain locations without guaranteed security force accompaniment, and that this decision has already been communicated to affected customers.
