Glovo changes hands in Portugal: are there changes for customers? Company clarifies doubts

The Glovo delivery platform is expected to change hands in Portugal in the context of two distinct operations involving Uber, Delivery Hero and SSW Partners. Delivery Hero is the company that owns Glovo and which is the target of a voluntary public offer by Uber.

Uber launched an offer to acquire Delivery Hero for 14.8 billion dollars, approximately 12.77 billion euros. However, the Portuguese operation does not directly follow this path. In July, Delivery Hero had already announced a separate agreement to sell its operations in 14 markets, including Portugal, to SSW Partners as an independent business.

The transfer of the Portuguese Glovo to SSW Partners is not yet completed, as it depends on the completion of Uber's offer to Delivery Hero and regulatory approvals. The forecast for closing the main operation is the second half of 2027.

Delivery Hero clarified that customers can continue to use Glovo normally, as the platform will continue to operate independently until the transactions are concluded. After finalization, Glovo in Portugal will transition to SSW Partners as a business separate from Uber.
