49-year-old man seriously injured in workplace accident in Alcácer do Sal

A 49-year-old man was seriously injured today as a result of a workplace accident in Alcácer do Sal, in the Setúbal district. The accident occurred in Bairro Forno da Cal, at 2:44 PM, when the man was working on a construction site and a wall collapsed, burying him.

The firefighters from Alcácer do Sal went to the scene and found the man already removed from the rubble, but with serious injuries. The injured man was transported by helicopter from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) to São José Hospital in Lisbon.

The GNR indicated that the Authority for Working Conditions (ACT) was contacted to investigate the circumstances of the accident. Seventeen operatives from the Alcácer do Sal fire department, INEM and GNR were mobilized to the scene, supported by five vehicles, including an Immediate Life Support (SIV) ambulance.
