The bishop of Viseu, D. António Luciano, inaugurated and blessed today the new facilities of the Cáritas Diocesan nursery, located at the Socio-Pastoral Centre. The investment of 300 thousand euros was entirely supported by the organization's own funds, which regretted not being able to obtain support from European funds due to bureaucratic difficulties.
The structural expansion raised the available places from 25 to 42 children, seeking to meet the growing demand from families in the region and guarantee better conditions for users and staff. The bishop classified the new space as a dreamed and worked reality that serves children and families with the spirit of Cáritas.
The president of the board of the institution, deacon Felisberto Marques, highlighted that the mission of Cáritas is to promote human dignity, especially of the most vulnerable, and that the partnership with Social Security will guarantee the viability of the project and the amortization of the investment in a reasonable time.
The event also included the blessing of a transport van and was attended by the newly appointed president of Cáritas, Isabel Martins, whom D. António Luciano challenged to continue a path of closeness and care among everyone.
