The National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) approved new service quality assessment indicators at the main Portuguese airports, at a Board of Directors meeting held on August 31. The decision was announced by the sector's regulatory authority and covers changes to baggage delivery, security screening time measurement, operational monitoring, and regulatory supervision.
The new criteria apply to the airports of Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Madeira, and Ponta Delgada, which are managed by the ANA concessionaire, belonging to the French group Vinci Airports. ANAC states that the changes will enable continuous improvement in the operational performance of national airports and the protection of passenger interests.
The changes will be implemented in a phased manner starting in September, with an evaluation of results over the next year. During 2027, a monitoring, technical validation, and operational data collection phase will take place, including periodic reports to ANAC.
The changes were decided within the framework of a consultation process for the Airport Service Quality Regime (RQSA), which ended without agreement between the airport manager and users. ANAC believes that the measures will ensure greater transparency and the ability to identify constraints in services provided to passengers.
