TAP: Government begins final negotiations with the two candidates

Sábado4 September 2026 at 16:24

The Portuguese Government has begun a phase of final negotiations with two candidates for TAP - Transportes Aéreos Portugueses.

The decision to negotiate with both candidates was made after the Secretary of State for Civil Aviation, Leitão Amaro, clarified that the proposals submitted are "globally so close" to each other.

Given this proximity of the proposals, the Executive considered that the best approach would be to move forward to an additional and definitive negotiation phase with the two competitors.

This stage represents a crucial step in the privatization or restructuring process of the Portuguese airline, which has been under debate by the Government.
