Government announces 12ME to support winegrowers unable to sell grapes in the Douro

RTP Notícias4 September 2026 at 16:10

The Portuguese Government announced today a financial support of approximately 12 million euros aimed at winegrowers in the Douro region. This measure seeks to support producers who, this campaign, cannot sell their grape production.

The initiative comes in a context of difficulties faced by grape producers in the demarcated Douro region, one of the most important wine zones in Portugal.

The Douro winegrowers are the main beneficiaries of this amount made available by the executive, which intends to mitigate the negative economic impacts of the inability to commercialise production.

This support is part of a set of agricultural policy measures adopted by the Government to support the national wine sector, particularly affected by market challenges in the current campaign.
