Five European Union countries — Denmark, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands and Greece — have reached an agreement to establish a common model for migrant deportation centers. The goal is for these centers to begin operating by 2027.

The signatory countries intend to negotiate this model with governments of countries outside the European Union. The first formal agreement under this initiative is scheduled for New Year's, although the partner countries have not yet been identified.
