PAN/Açores says the best tribute is to continue the work of the founders of autonomy

Açoriano Oriental4 September 2026 at 17:34

PAN/Açores considered that the best tribute to the 50 years of regional autonomy is to continue the work started by the founders. The opinion was expressed by the sole deputy of the party in the Legislative Assembly of the Azores, Pedro Neves.

Neves highlighted that the path taken over five decades demonstrates the capacity of the Azoreans to govern themselves autonomously. The political leader considered that keeping alive the essence of what was built is the fairest way to celebrate this historic date.

This position comes in the context of the celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of the autonomy of the Azores, a milestone that represents five decades of political self-management of the region. PAN, although with limited representation, is present in these reflections on the past and future of Azorean autonomy.
