The Portuguese government has begun final negotiations with Air France-KLM and Lufthansa for the sale of a stake in TAP. The two European airlines are the main interested parties in acquiring a share of the Portuguese airline.
The sale process provides for the disposal of up to 49.9% of TAP's capital. Of this total, 5% is reserved for the company's workers, meaning the remaining 44.9% will be made available to strategic investors.
TAP is a Portuguese state-owned company in the civil aviation sector. The partial privatization process is part of the government's strategy to attract foreign investment and secure the future of the airline.
The negotiations are taking place at a time of challenges for the aviation sector, affected by various economic and operational factors. The government intends to conclude the process aimed at the modernization and sustainability of TAP.
