The number of Brazilians who work through apps grew 36.8% since 2022 and reached almost two million people in 2025, according to data from the IBGE Continuous PNAD. Almost 60% of these workers are employed in passenger transportation apps, representing about 1.2 million people. Another 585 thousand work through delivery apps, while 313 thousand work on general or professional service platforms.
Of the total app workers, 1.8 million had this activity as their main job, equivalent to 92% of all platform workers. The remaining 182 thousand performed this activity as secondary work. The survey also revealed that only one in three platform workers contributes to Social Security.
Regarding the profile of workers, the majority are men, who represent 84.4% of the total, while women account for 15.6%. The average monthly income of these workers was R$ 3,147, practically the same as that of workers who do not use digital platforms.
