PRR: Hélio Fazendeiro believes all projects will be accepted

Jornal Notícias da Covilhã4 September 2026 at 14:46

The mayor of Covilhã, Hélio Fazendeiro, expressed confidence that all municipal projects that moved forward under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) will receive financial support. The mayor acknowledged that, in some cases, there were difficulties in meeting the deadlines for completing the works, due to the lack of materials and labor, but assured that all projects are in conditions to be validated.

During a private executive meeting, PSD councilor Pedro Serrão questioned the execution rate of the 43 projects supported by the PRR, worth more than three million euros, recalling that the deadline for completion was August 31. The councilor wanted to know if any charges could fall on the municipal budget.

Hélio Fazendeiro guarantees that there will be no additional costs for the municipality, explaining that even with delays, the works have to reach approximately 90% completion in order not to lose the financial support, which is ensured. "There were problems, at the national level, even in the supply of materials and labor, but the works are completed and I hope there is acceptance of all projects," stated the mayor.

Among the projects supported by the PRR in Covilhã, there were initiatives for housing and the requalification of health centers, integrated into this Government financial package.
