"Only if a lot of things go wrong" is when the economy won't grow 2%

SAPO Notícias4 September 2026 at 14:14

The Forum for Competitiveness estimated that the Portuguese economy should grow by at least 2% this year, considering that only if "a lot of things go wrong" would growth fall below that threshold.

According to the Forum's analysis, the least positive aspect identified relates to the low productivity of the new jobs created in the country.

The entity warned about this issue as one of the points that deserves attention in the national economic landscape, although growth prospects remain favorable.
