SAPO Notícias4 September 2026 at 13:29

A Russian general was shot in the head on Thursday morning in the town of Probuzhdenie, near the city of Engels, in the Russian region of Saratov. The military official is accused of having ordered an attack on a children's hospital in Kiev.

According to several Russian media outlets, a man approached on a motorcycle, fired twice at the military official and fled the scene. The general was injured by a gunshot wound to the head.

The attack occurs in the context of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, where hospitals and civilian infrastructure have been targets of attacks by both sides since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022. The children's hospital in Kiev was one of the medical facilities that suffered attacks during the war.

Russian authorities have not yet made official comments on the incident. The identity of the shooter and his motives have not been confirmed.
