The fifth business day of September 2026 will be on Saturday, September 5, which is the deadline for paying formal employees their salaries for the month of August. This rule is established in article 459 of the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT), which states that salary must be paid, at most, by the fifth business day of the following month.

For the purpose of calculating this deadline, Saturday is considered a business day, even when the employee does not work on that day. Sundays and holidays, on the other hand, are not included in the count. In the month of September, the sequence was: first business day on Tuesday (1st), second on Wednesday (2), third on Thursday (3), fourth on Friday (4), and fifth on Saturday (5).

Therefore, September 5, 2026 is the fifth business day for the purpose of the legal salary payment deadline.
