Mainland Portugal will continue under the influence of Saharan dust during the weekend, with higher concentration in some regions. The intrusion of Saharan desert dust in Portugal should continue until next Tuesday, the 8th.
This episode results from the transport of mineral particles from North Africa. The atmospheric circulation of recent days favored the advance of a hot and dry air mass towards the Iberian Peninsula, dragging with it the Saharan dust.
The atmospheric configuration responsible for this transport should persist during the weekend, maintaining the concentration levels of the particles. However, there are significant differences between the various regions of the country, with some areas registering greater intensity of the phenomenon.
From Monday, a change in atmospheric circulation is expected that should favor the progressive dispersion of particles, gradually putting an end to this episode of dust in Portugal.
