Nine team heads of the Pediatric Emergency Department at Hospital Dona Estefânia, in Lisbon, submitted their resignation requests this Thursday to the president of the unit's Board of Directors. The decision comes as a protest over the lack of anesthesiologists at the hospital, a situation that has been compromising the functioning of the pediatric emergency department. The professionals consider that without the necessary resources, it is not possible to guarantee the quality of care provided to the children who use the service. The collective resignation represents an act of protest against the working conditions and the management of human resources at the health unit.
