Environment Minister wants to extend ERSE's sanctioning powers to the oil system

The Environment Minister, Maria da Graça Carvalho, sent a letter to the Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE) requesting that the regulator extend its sanctioning powers to the oil system. The objective is to reinforce the supervision and regulation of this sector, which is currently not under the same rigorous oversight as the electricity and natural gas sectors.

The ministry also advocates that ERSE should make fuel price information more accessible to consumers. This measure aims to increase transparency in the oil market and allow citizens to have access to clearer data on fuel prices.

Additionally, Maria da Graça Carvalho asked ERSE to propose possible legislative changes in the fuels area. This request comes in a context of growing concerns about fuel price volatility and the need for more effective regulation of the oil sector in Portugal.
