World food prices recorded a 2.5% growth in August, according to data from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The global food basket reached an average of 133.3 points in the last month.
This increase has worsened inflationary pressure already felt globally. Several factors contributed to this rise, including geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and adverse weather conditions in various producing regions.
FAO, responsible for compiling this data, warned about the impact these increases may have on global food security, particularly in the most vulnerable regions.
