The Southwest Zone of Rio de Janeiro, the region that hosts Rock in Rio starting this Friday, faces a routine of confrontations due to the dispute between drug trafficking factions and militias. With the increased circulation of people through the region during the festival, which should attract 100,000 people per day, there is greater passage through communities that coexist with armed conflicts.
The Military Police has determined the reinforcement of overt policing in areas considered sensitive, including Muzema, Rio das Pedras, Asa Branca, Vila Sapê, and Gardênia. The objective is to contain the instability caused by the presence of rival criminal groups in these communities.
The numerous police officers are also conducting intelligence work to monitor movements related to possible attacks or invasions. The strategy aims to identify risks and allow teams to act in a coordinated manner to prevent and contain any criminal actions during the event.
