The tennis player Nick Kyrgios was suspended for a period of one month, after testing positive for cocaine. The suspension comes as a result of an anti-doping control carried out during an ATP Tour event in Mallorca, where the presence of the drug was detected in his blood.
Kyrgios will lose the prize money of 6,570 euros he would have been entitled to receive at that tournament, as well as the points obtained in the competition. This penalty represents a significant blow to the Australian tennis player, both financially and in his ranking.
In addition to the suspension, the player stated that he has started a detoxification program. This decision comes at a time when Kyrgios has faced various controversies off the courts, and the rehabilitation program comes as part of the process to resolve this situation.
