The City Council of Castelló is intensifying the cleaning of drainage grates throughout the city in preparation for the heavy rains that traditionally occur in autumn. Mayor Begoña Carrasco, accompanied by the Councilor for Infrastructures, presented this Friday the action plan that has been underway since August.
Since that month, municipal teams have paid special attention to nearly three dozen zones identified as most problematic in case of intense precipitation. These areas include locations such as Sos Baynat avenue, Racó de la Torreta, the Castalia neighborhood, the Valencia road, the Borriol road, the San Marcos housing complex, the General Hospital of Castellón, as well as various streets such as Torrenostra, Magallanes, Alcocebre, Balerma and Miguel Santángel.
Among the critical points are also the chapel of Sant Roc in the Pinar del Golf area, Racó de Galera, Barranco del Sol, Senillar, la Molinera, la Travessera, el Bovar and underpasses. On the city's ring roads, particular attention is paid to the Southern ring road, the Western ring road, the beltway, Riu Sec avenue and the La Ratlla de Almassora path.
Mayor Begoña Carrasco emphasized that the main objective of this operation is to minimize flood risks and guarantee the safety of citizens when the first heavy rains of the autumn season arrive.
