A 70-year-old man was arrested on September 2 in the municipality of Valpaços, in the district of Vila Real, on suspicion of domestic violence. The operation was carried out by the Specific Victims Support and Investigation Unit (NIAVE) of the Territorial Command of Vila Real of the GNR, as part of an investigation that lasted about two weeks.
During the operation, the military officers executed two search warrants, one domestic and one non-domestic, as well as an arrest warrant. During the searches, a hunting rifle and one round of ammunition were seized.
The detainee was brought before the Valpaços Court on September 3 for his first judicial hearing. The man was subject to the precautionary measure of prohibition of contact with the victim by any means.
