The 59th Volta à Ilha de São Miguel by Azores Rallye takes place this year with the participation of 28 teams. The event is currently in the process of applying to join the Portuguese Rally Championship (CPR) starting in 2027.

The Câmara Municipal de Ponta Delgada announced this application, highlighting it as an important step for the enhancement of the regional event. The councilor of the municipality Cristina do Canto Tavares was responsible for presenting and highlighting this ambition during the ceremony presenting the rally.

The rally, now in its 59th edition, has a tradition in the Azores and is one of the most relevant sporting events in the region. The possible inclusion in the calendar of the Portuguese Rally Championship would represent a significant recognition of its competitive and organizational level.
