Food inflation in Portugal is close to 6%, according to DECO data. In August, the consumer association's food basket cost almost 6% more than in the same period last year.
According to DECO's data, the increase was 5.89% when compared with August 2025, which represents a significant rise in food product prices.
DECO is a consumer defense association in Portugal that regularly monitors the prices of a basket of food products to track inflation trends in the sector.
This data comes in a context of growing concern about the increasing cost of living, particularly with regard to essential food products for Portuguese families.
